Summit of Battle Mt

On the morning of September 8th we embarked on our first expedition with TRU’s Adventure Guide Diploma program. We made our way out to Wells Grey Provincial Park. With  Battle MT Summit on our minds we started at Phillip lake parking lot. We hiked to Phillip Lake then a meadow about another 600ft in elevation and spent our first night there. The next day we made our way to Fight Lake and the base of Battle Mt. Leaving Table Mt and the incredably majestic Trophy Mt in our background. We summited Battle Mt ( 7773 ft) at approx 3pm on the 10th of Septemeber. It snowed rained and even hailed on our trip to the summit and back. But, boy did we love every minute of it. Here are some photos for your enjoyment.  For more information on  Battle Mt or the Trophy Range, contact me and I would be happy to relay our route.

The red line represents part of our route to the Summit at 7773 ft.

It fogged over and started snowing when we got to the summit. We were stoked none the less.

After our summit we hiked down the North side of Battle Mountain and camped just at its base. We woke up to 3cm of snow. It was a chilly night. It was the first snow I have played in since my surgery and it was like medicine.

The fog that hung around all morning made it hard to get a good shot of the North Side of Battle Mt. But that didn’t stop me from planning which couloirs I want to go back and ski this winter.

The only wildlife we say was a baby mole and some tarmigans, so these wolf tracks were very exciting.

On our way home the dry valley’s and meadow’s were now covered in fresh snow. This shot is one of my favorite’s of the trip and gives you a perspective on how quiet and secluded the area really is. I would reccomend this hike to novice-advanced hikers. Out in Wells Grey Park in the Trophy Range there is a little bit of something for everyone.
